Festival Season

You don't have to know me for very long to know how much I am in love with the idea of the Festival Of Britain, including the scepticism of a lot of the British public. I know if it happened now I'd roll my eyes but enjoy it anyway.

A friend sent this to me, I love it.

    1. No, it was a one-off event held over the summer of 1951, 100 years after The Great Exhibition, to celebrate all things British - science, art, design, town planning/ architecture, manufacturing etc.

It was based in London, the Southbank Centre was built for the occasion, but various touring exhibitions took place around the country. It also served to perk everyone up an provide a bit of optimism after WWII where the nation had taken such a hit, rationing continued until 1954, so it really was time for a feel good period!

  2. Isn’t it lovely when someone gives you a gift they know you will really appreciate? Finally a bit warmer here today-we were able to eat lunch outdoors today.
